Stonemasons in Java craft this Buddha statue based on the 13-meter-tall, 121-ton "Kamakura daibutsu" in Kotoku Temple, believed to date from the 13th century. This statue is on the candidate list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

The Buddha is in a seated meditation posture Dhyana-Mudra, hands resting on lap.

Compared to other models, the Japanese Buddha has a slightly rounder face. The robe is wavy and covers the legs. Not only the front, but also the back of the robe is beautifully carved..
